Rachel Jablow, founder of The Shopper’s Compass, has a background in fashion and finance. She has always been interested in fashion and current on the latest fashion trends, yet has always had an economically conscious mindset. She was raised in a suburb of Washington DC in a home where she and her siblings had to do chores to be rewarded with a weekly allowance. From a very young age, Rachel became aware of ‘the value of a dollar.’ Yet, that wasn’t a reason to hinder her fashion sense.

After moving to New York City upon the completion of college, she realized nothing was inexpensive in this city. After taxes, rent and monthly bills, there was very little to spend on what she enjoys most—clothes! Through her savvy sense, Rachel had to learn how to find the luxury labels on the budget that allowed her to dress fashionably without showing signs of her frugal constraints.

Rachel worked in a fashion showroom for a designer t-shirt company. While working there, she learned about the extreme mark-up from wholesale to retail. Thus began her journey to always find ‘a good deal’. She became keenly aware of contemporary sample sales and made lots of friends within the fashion industry. Whether she swapped designer t-shirts for other designer duds with her fashion friends, or shopped at the under-publicized sample sales, Rachel accumulated an envious wardrobe!

However, it takes a lot to maintain! Rachel moved out of the industry into the financial world in order to challenge her economic mindset and earn a salary to fund her shopping habit. Regardless of how much you earn in NYC, it’s never enough after expenses. So nine years after moving to the city, Rachel is completely tuned in to the shopping and saving secrets of the town. With fashion still her first love, Rachel knows of every sample sale, warehouse sale, or even just the local sales at her favorite boutiques in her favorite city--New York City!

Now it is her turn to share her secrets with the rest of the world…’SO LISTEN, WORLD! … Shopping can be fun, unique and rewarding! Yes, Rewarding! It feels good to know that a deal can be made, even for an item you most covet!

…And you can walk away without the guilt!
